In a deep oven dish or cake pan place the sliced, buttered bread side by side. Boil the water and sugar together, add the strawberries and boil 5 minutes. Pour the syrup over the bread, placing the strawberries evenly on the bread slices. Place on a low heat and boil for 5 minutes, spooning the syrup over the bread. Place carefully on a serving dish when cooled. |
